My daughter was recently diagnosed with nickel allergy, her symptoms are fairly severe, fortunately we met with a wonderful dermatologist that eased our concerns. I personally purchased the nickel testing kit offered on Amazon.com, the price was lower than other kits online and is shipped new by an individual that also lives with a nickel allergy.

DESCRIPTION:

Nickel allergy appears as an itchy rash when your skin comes in contact with a usually harmless substance and is commonly associated with body jewelry but can also be caused by coins, eye glass frames, wrist watch bands, belts, and even buttons on jeans and other clothing.

SYMPTOMS:

  • Rash or bumps on the skin
  • Itching, can be severe
  • Redness or changes in skin color
  • Dry patches of skin that may resemble a burn
  • Blisters and draining fluid in severe cases

TREATMENT:

There is no cure for nickel allergy. Once you develop a sensitivity to nickel, you will develop a rash whenever you come into contact with the metal, this rash will likely continue for two to four weeks.

Your physician may prescribe certain types of medication including, corticosteroid cream and oral antihistamines. Over the counter soothing creams are beneficial, avoiding all contact with nickel is very important when living with this allergy.
